Certificate Programmes

1. Certificate in Vocational Education and Training

The course aims to equip trainers with skills and competencies aligned to the requirements of a trainer standard and for the attainment of a fully accredited Certificate in Vocational Education and Training. It comprises of 9 units. On completion of this program, candidates will be awarded a Certificate in Vocational Education and Training. The course is offered in two ways:

1. Through training: Trainees will undergo training for a period of six months.

2. Through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessment: Candidates with prior knowledge of the program will apply for assessment through the RPL office. 2. Microsoft Office Suite

This course is intended for people who would like to develop their skills in the use of computer systems and applications. Successful completion of the modules leads to the award of a foundation Certificate. The programme has six modules which can be taken as a package or in instalments with each module taking two weeks to complete. Institutions are free to arrange for a blocked period for all the modules (Level 1)

This is an intermediate certificate course in entrepreneurship, and is aimed at developing skills and competencies in managing small businesses. Its ultimate objective is to create practical awareness of the need to manage businesses more effectively. The duration of the course is six months (Level 2)

This is an intermediate certificate course designed for operatives in both manufacturing and service industries ,and is aimed at promoting increased productivity through maximization of communication channels  mediated through language  (Level 2)

The duration of the course is three months. Successful completion of the course will lead to the award of the Certificate in interactive communication for industry.

 The minimum duration of this course is one (1) year. However, those who are unable to complete within the one (1) year will be given an extra year to complete the course. The certificate for Distance Education Practitioners is awarded upon successful completion of the CDPE Programme requirements.

The CDM is a certificate level programme, which will be further developed to diploma level. This is an applied programme, and at Level 1 is broken down as follows: Level 1: Certificate in Disaster Management (CDM)

Duration of Programme

  • The programme shall be conducted in semesters.
  • There will be two semesters in one calendar year.
  • The minimum duration for the programme shall be one year (two semesters).
  • The maximum period shall be three years (six semesters).

Entry Qualifications

To be admitted to the programme, the candidate must have satisfied the minimum conditions for entry outlined below.

(i)  At least a pass in six subjects at the BGCSE or its equivalent,


(ii)  Junior Certificate (JC), supported with working experience

(iii)  Applicants with qualifications over and above the minimum stipulated ones will have an added advantage.

7. Certificate for Community Based Work with Children and Youth (CBWCY)

Duration of the Programme

The duration of the program is 18 months. The programme is offered in collaboration with Regional Pycho-social Support Initiative (REPSSI).

Entry requirements

1. Minimum – Primary Leaving Certificate Examination (PSLE)
2. Relevant work experience working with children and youth in a givn organization
